The two mud cloths above came from west Africa. Both are beautiful vintage pieces yet they are quite different.
The first photo shows a very graphic, tightly woven mud cloth. It has an ikat pattern woven in traditional indigo blue and oyster-white. This wonderful mud cloth also has the added detail of multiple primary-color accent stitches that really pop. This active pattern is not for everyone, but it makes a lively addition to any collection for the more adventurous among us.
The second photo is a classic indigo mud cloth with incredible hand twisted and knotted fringe. Simply referred to as "indigos" these textiles range from ultra-faded to very deep dark blue. A piece like this is very collectible and will never go out of fashion.
