I'm a sucker for all white and natural color matelasse cotton fabric. I love the dimension and texture it brings to a room or a piece of clothing. So just what it matelasse? I've downloaded the following definition from http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary
noun ma·te·las·sé \¦mätəl(ˌ)ä¦sā, ¦mät(ˌ)lä-\
plural Definition of MATELASSÉA double cloth of cotton or rayon or other fibers woven on a jacquard loom and used especially for clothing, upholstery, and bedspreads and marked by raised floral or geometric designs with a puckered or quilted appearance achieved by the interlacing of threads in the weaving or the contracting of threads in the finishing.
Origin of MATELASSÉ
French, from past participle of matelasser to cushion as with a mattress, from matelas mattress, from Middle French, alteration of materas, from Old French.

Leather: Leather is still an important apparel, accessory and shoe component for those of us who cannot wear synthetics. They key is to treasure those items made from an animal hide and honor them with long-term use.

Plaid Hand-Maker's Top
Made in the studio today! One of my favorite shirt styles for easy wear-n-go fashion! I used just under two yards of the "Paul" cotton twill. to make this top. My DIY friends have the option to purchase just the fabric, or the garment is for sale at the on-line-store.
Please let me know if I should offer a kit with instructions for this easy garment. The most difficult sewing skill needed is the ability to sew bias binding into a neckline.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you make out of this embossed beaver faux fur! The knit backing makes for very easy sewing, especially if you don't have a machine! Simply sew by hand through the knit backing.
I recommend a luxurious throw, or how about a decadent beaver poncho? You could also make a simple scarf, or add fur collar and cuffs to your favorite denim jacket. The ends don't fray thanks to the convenient knit back construction.
Be sure to visit the on-line store for more details about this high quality faux fur.

It's been a long day of shooting new fabrics, buttons, and ribbon. Yet Sophie never leaves the location and ensures not an item is overlooked. Plus I'm happy to report Sophie must bring me good luck because the necklace in the photo already sold!

We can all appreciate natural beauty in many things. I happen to love hydrangea and this one is a gorgeous example so I had to share it. I do my best to stop and enjoy things that make me feel good.

Finish details like a beautiful ribbon can make or break a visual statement. This classic rayon picot ribbon will compliment anything that needs a special touch. This one is from Switzerland and is a generous 2" wide. Can be dyed any color you wish. Rit Dye would do the trick..
I prefer to use it in the natural oyster color shown because it has a vintage feel to it. Use to dress up a table setting, use on a garment, or wrap up a special package for the upcoming holiday season. Available through our on line store. Limited quantity.
The "Blake" Plaid made for a fun pop-over top to wear back to black leggings with boots or a favorite pair of jeans. The flannel is on the heavy side so I recommend you keep that in mind when considering a project for this fabric. I chose to sew this over-sized tunic style and make it more interesting by turning some of the pieces on the bias (diagonal). I hope my project inspires you to try out this super-soft 100% cotton flannel. This project required 2 1/3 yards.(this top is very over-sized)
Not up to an advanced project? Try making a scarf. Just cut a long strip approx. two yards long by 20" wide. (two yards will yield two scarves, one for you and one for a lucky friend)
I like to make a raw edge fringe by cutting slits about 1/2" apart by 1 inch in depth. Once you wash and dry the piece, you have a great looking winter scarf.
Happy sewing! #plaidflannel #flannel #tunic #morrisseyfabric
Sewed together all of the pieces to the Artist Top, and decided to keep a few raw edges for a deconstructed look. The back, shown here, has double stitching on the seams so it won't fray beyond the seam lines. I clip the exposed seam allowances every 3/8" or so to ensure it will fray during the washing. At the lower hemline, I clipped 1" up to get a nice fringed look. Plus, then I don't have to do a roll hem! I'll post a completed garment picture by tomorrow. #sew #flannelplaid #morrisseyfabric
