African Kuba cloth has continued to capture the imagination of a wide range of interior designers and DIY decorators. There are so many variations of kuba cloth I thought I would share a few of the more recently woven pieces I've picked up. Photo: Morrissey Fabric The kuba cloth textiles above are flat weave pieces that have a contemporary look rooted in classic geometric patterns. There are more colors in these pieces than kuba cloth textiles from most of the 1900s. photo: Morrissey Fabric The colors in the Kuba cloth seen here are quite unique. It's not everyday I find a Kuba cloth with neon pink woven into the pattern. Photo: Morrissey Fabric The Kuba cloth seen here has a deorative fringe on all four edges. This extra detail is useful if you plan to use this Kuba cloth as wall art. No frame needed. Photo: Morrissey Fabric All authentic kuba cloth is hand woven in Africa. Kuba cloth is made from raffia fibers which are quite durable and makes them easy to care for. These contemporary Kuba cloth textiles will certainly take their place along side their vintage relatives as collectible African fiber art. Photo: Morrissey Fabric After my last sourcing trip, my car boot was filled to the brim with vintage kuba cloth, colorful kuba cloth. Kasai velvet kuba clorh, and hand appliqué kuba cloth. Trust me, you will see more and more of these unique one of a kind African textiles over the next several seasons. Looking for a piece of kuba cloth for your next project?
