Vintage Mexican Blanket, Mint Condition Saltillo Blanket, Southwestern Serape, Morrissey Fabric
On reserve: Truly a rare find, this vintage Mexican blanket is in mint condition. Gorgeous example of a Saltillo sarape blanket in a warm rust color with traditional multi-color stripes and center motif. This is a collector's textile that’s great for the foot of a bed, draped over a sofa back, or even displayed on the wall. I wouldn’t cut this serape that has been well cared for and stored in a cedar trunk for decades.
This Mexican blanket will add warmth to a midcentury home, boho space, Santa Fe abode, or any eclectic interior.
Southwestern blankets hand-loomed in wool or cactus fiber are of a classic design that never goes out of style. This wonderful textile has a refined weave.
The colors in this sarape are clean and clear with the stripes running the gamut from purple, dusty pink, rose, dusty golden yellows, olive green, lighter browns, and ivory.
Hand loomed in Mexico and estimated from the 1940s to 1970s given the materials, colors, and design.
There are nubs created by knots where one fiber strand ended and another began. This lends to the authenticity and tactile quality.
Measurements in inches: 90 inches x 49.5 inches (which includes the fringe)
Has been dry cleaned so it’s ready for use or gift giving.
