Gorgeous vintage African Aso Oke Textile. My photos don’t capture how nice it is! Very good vintage condition! This ceremonial cloth is from Yoruba, Africa. This type of celebratory textile is often repurposed into designer pillow covers and home decor goods.
Woven in narrow strips that are joined to make one larger cloth. Eyelet details add surface interest.
The colors are very soft taupe cotton and soft denim blue with rayon topstitching that creates the tribal geometric patterns. Subtle silver lurex runs through the plaid pattern. Great look for a neutral space that could use a touch of bling.
Measures 72 inches long x 46 inches wide.
A hand crafted piece of African Aso Oke cloth like this will yield loads of pillow covers, or use for upholstery, or on the foot of a bed. Crisp cotton hand with heavier areas where the rayon is stitched. Good medium weight with eyelet details and surface loops.
***As with many vintage textiles that have been in use, this African cloth has some wear-n-tear. There are some very light stains. Please examine photos.
